Code-sailing is something that has come to stay in the sport of sailing. Boats with smaller forsail/genoa will definitely need some form of Code to speed up your boat when the wind is light.
The tack of a gennaker or a Code-0 sail is always attached to the boat forward of the forestay. While a simple bowsprit is good enough for a gennaker, a sturdy tripod-type bowsprit is essential for serious Code-0 sailing. The triaxial forces when sailing with winds forward of abeam are simply too strong for a typical pipe-like bowsprit. Båtsystem’s Race and Performance bowsprits are explicitly designed for these huge forces and made for Code-0 sailing. For the simpler Classic series we have conversion kits available as well.
